Happiness

Happiness  by Sridhar Rangaswamy “sri”

Has anyone answered the question what is Happiness? There are probably many meanings that can be found in Wikipedia, Thesaurus or in the different dictionaries in today’s world. But what exactly does it mean or imply- is there a true understanding?

In my opinion – Yes, there is a true understanding.
In the world of Philosophy there is an eternal bliss. This is more spiritual, philosophical or more religious.

In reality, today’s world it is a “STATE OF MIND”.

Or you can call it a state of feeling. This is not a tough thing or something that will need a lot of effort. It is as simple as starting to think you are happy for every moment or for whatever comes, I will not break down.

For some, If I get a car, I will be happy. Once you get a car, you have issues on insurance, road rage and what not!:) For others, once I get this girlfriend/boyfriend, I will be happy. What happens when the girlfriend/boyfriend gives grief or always talks negative!! :) These are excuses we frame in our minds. Once this – then that….

Start thinking, whatever adverse circumstances, comes to my life, it is my life –my mind and heart, I will not let loose.

Start doing things like playing golf, creating a new hobby, painting, arts –something that keeps you busy. There is a saying that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Try to be creative, spread the word of doing well and thinking positive.  Remember, it is all about your attitude.

There was a story told about one of the wealthiest person who was one of the unhappiest. He was going around and searching for happiness.  During his search, someone approached him and asked him to go and watch a home where a young girl was working.  She was smiling and dancing, even though she was doing a cleaning job and wearing tattered clothing. The next day he went and got her a new dress and gave it to her. She was happy like the previous day. Next day she kept the new clothes in her closet and came back with same old torn outfit and yet was still very happy. Then he realized it is not the clothes that it is her state of mind.   This changed him and made him realize that no matter what happens, I will tend to stay positive and happy! :!)

Happiness brings smiles. Happiness brings laughter!

  1. You are right that a positive attitude is key. If we start by appreciating our life, we will have greater happiness. those who are unhappy often have an unappreciative attitude.
